Embark on a fabulous culinary event with French chef Manu and discover the treasures of the mighty Murray River, paired with a fabulous Kangaroo Island experience.

Adelaide is full of culture, flavours and entertainment, which you’ll discover during an overnight hotel stay before you transfer to the beautiful paddlewheeler PS Murray Princess, for your unforgettable cruise on the beautiful historic Murray River.

Wind through the serene waters between Walker Flat and Murray Bridge as you soak up the spectacular riverlands, admiring the views of the ever-changing flora and fauna. Highlights of your three-night adventure include close encounters with river birdlife on board the ‘Dragon-Fly’ boat, marvelling at the astounding landscapes during a nature walk and savouring fantastic flavours of this famous region.

Disembarking back in Mannum, you’ll escape to the glorious surroundings of the Barossa Valley for an enchanting afternoon of gastronomic delight at Château Tanunda. Birthplace of the Barossa and established in 1890, this majestic bluestone winery and vineyards is a living testament to the colourful history and pioneering spirit of Australia’s most famous wine region. Now, thanks to the passion and dedication of the Geber family, this iconic Barossa estate is celebrated amongst the top wineries in Australia.

Enjoy a two-course meal designed in consultation with Chateau Tanunda’s chef and special guest chef Manu Feildel. Manu will talk through each dish, explaining its origin and carefully selected ingredients as it is being served to you. Manu’s own sous chef will be hard at work in the kitchen ensuring every dish is delivered to your table perfectly prepped and plated. 

In addition to our special culinary event, guests will enjoy wine tasting and a historical tour of Chateau Tanunda.  

You’ll then return to Adelaide for an overnight stay before embarking a ferry to Kangaroo Island, home to a plethora of nature-based activities. During a two-day tour of this magnificent island, you’ll enjoy encounters with koalas and majestic birds of prey as well as the kangaroos the island is named after. You’ll also get to experience some of the famously picturesque landscapes this region has to offer, from the beautiful beaches of the Seal Bay Conservation Park to the sprawling grounds of the Flinders Chase National Park.

Following Kangaroo Island, return to Adelaide for a final night’s stay, giving you more opportunity to explore this vibrant city, before your return flight home the following day.

Spend some time at leisure this morning before you transfer to Mannum Wharf port where you’ll embark the PS Murray Princess for a unique cruise experience along the Murray River. Embrace the character and charm of yesteryear as you savour your elegant surroundings. This remarkable vessel was built specifically for the Murray River and offers a true taste of a bygone era to anyone who cruises with her. You’ll head downriver as you tuck into a delicious Welcome Dinner. As you cruise under floodlight, you may spot nocturnal wildlife grazing at the riverbank before mooring at Mundurra.

Murray River Cruise

In 1879 the first bridge to span the Murray River was built at Edwards Crossing, which quickly become the bustling township of Murray Bridge. After a hearty breakfast, choose to join a guided tour of the town’s historic landmarks and local attractions or go on a wildlife tour at Monarto Safari Park (additional cost). Those how choose to experience Monarto Safari park will arrive back on board the Murray Princess in time for lunch then join us in the Sturt Dining Room for a special presentation on the bounty of food and wine produced in the Riverland. This afternoon, we continue our journey upriver and tonight we moor at Salt Bush Flat. After dinner, enjoy being entertained by our talented crew.

Murray River Cruise

This morning, you’ll enjoy a spot of exercise as you join your guide for a nature walk around the spectacular scenery of Salt Bush Flat, learning the secrets of the local flora and fauna. Back on board, you’ll head downriver to River View Lodge where you’ll embark on a wildlife tour. In small groups, you’ll wind through the maze of river and observe the majestic views of river birdlife, including darters, herons and egrets before enjoying an afternoon of bocce or fishing challenges.
