Depart Sydney in the afternoon and start a true journey of contrasts - it will take you through the heights of the majestic Blue Mountains and across the barren expanse of the Nullarbor Plain, to lush vineyards and vast goldmines, and from cities of 4 million to ghost towns of just four citizens. Enjoy a hearty breakfast in the restaurant before spending some time in one of the lounges soaking up the atmosphere or admiring the sights. You’ll then disembark in beautifully designed Adelaide. Renowned as the City of Churches, Adelaide is home to some of the most striking and diverse structures that embrace a variety of beliefs and religions. Explore St. Peter’s Cathedral, an iconic landmark of the city and an important part of the city’s heritage. Admire the beguiling Neo-Gothic architecture with its soaring towers and spires and marvel at the stunning colours from the stained-glass windows.

Spend some time at leisure this morning before you transfer to Mannum Wharf port where you’ll embark the PS Murray Princess for a unique cruise experience along the Murray River. Embrace the character and charm of yesteryear as you savour your elegant surroundings. This remarkable vessel was built specifically for the Murray River and offers a true taste of a bygone era to anyone who cruises with her. You’ll head downriver as you tuck into a delicious Welcome Dinner. As you cruise under floodlight, you may spot nocturnal wildlife grazing at the riverbank before mooring at Mundurra.

In 1879, the first bridge to span the mighty Murray River was built at Edwards Crossing, which quickly became the bustling township of Murray Bridge. Following a hearty breakfast, you’ll embark on a guided tour of Murray Bridge and explore the town’s historic Roundhouse. The unusual hexagonal shaped historical residence captures the history of this remarkable region and enhances magnificent views of the river. Back on board, you’ll enjoy a special presentation of the bounty of food and wine produced in the Riverland and continue your journey upriver where you’ll moor at Salt Bush Flat.

This morning, you’ll enjoy a spot of exercise as you join your guide for a nature walk around the spectacular scenery of Salt Bush Flat, learning the secrets of the local flora and fauna. Back on board, you’ll head downriver to River View Lodge where you’ll embark on a wildlife tour. In small groups, you’ll wind through the maze of river and observe the majestic views of river birdlife, including darters, herons and egrets before enjoying an afternoon of bocce or fishing challenges. Savour a final night celebration of the farewell Captain’s Dinner and Dance.

Arriving back at the Mannum Wharf after breakfast, you’ll disembark and travel into the famous Barossa Valley, Australia’s richest and best-known wine making region, for your tour. Soak up the breathtaking sights of sprawling vineyards with a stop at the multi award-winning Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre, where you’ll sample delicious wines. Next, you’ll visit Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop and indulge in a delicious two-course gourmet feast at Lambert Estate and take in the views of this popular vineyard. Your final stop is Gully Gardens at Angaston, before returning to Adelaide for your hotel stay.

Indulge in a gastronomic delight in one of Australia’s most-award winning restaurants, roam through the Botanic Gardens or escape to Glenelg and discover the delights of this charming town as you explore the historic landmark of the Glenelg Town Hall. Admire the beauty of the grand main entrance and climb to the top of the tower for panoramic views of the ocean and picturesque surroundings. Close by, you’ll find the Pioneer Memorial, erected in 1936 to represent four of the biggest colonists that came out here.

Leaving Adelaide behind, today you’ll re-embark the majestic Indian Pacific and continue on your journey to Perth. You will enjoy the finest dining, drinks and off-train excursions as you stream across the country, while relaxing in the luxurious surroundings. Savour delectable cuisine paired with sumptuous local wines in the Queen Adelaide restaurant, enjoy a cocktail in one of the bars or head to the Outback Explorer Lounge and get to know your fellow passengers.

Today you’ll arrive on the edges of the sweeping Nullarbor Plain. Following a leisurely breakfast, you’ll step off the train for a short stop in Cook. Once a bustling railway community, now effectively a ghost town, Cook gives new meaning to the expression “middle of nowhere”. Take some time to reflect on the changing landscapes in your journey and to enjoy the hospitality of the Outback Explorer Lounge as you travel across Australia’s longest stretch of railway.

The Avon Valley beckons you this morning – the mild skies and cool green vales of this picturesque part of the world will truly delight. Arrive into the cosmopolitan western capital of Perth after lunch, having finished an epic Australian journey end-to-end.

Your adventure begins at the astounding Kings Park Botanical Gardens where you’ll relish a walk through the towering trees’ canopies on the Tree Top Walkway and admire the spectacular views of the city’s skyline. From here, you’ll journey to one of Perth’s best beaches, Cottesloe Beach, before discovering the historic port town of Fremantle and spend some time checking out the town’s attractions. You’ll then begin your journey back to the city, passing some of Perth’s most exclusive suburbs including Barrack Street Jetty and the famous Bell Tower.
