Savour a cruise on the Adelaide River before travelling to Kakadu National Park, where you can immerse yourself in the country’s wilder side. This is home to saltwater crocodiles and countless other creatures, while the Warradjan Cultural Centre provides an insight into the indigenous Bininj people. A cruise on the Yellow Water Billabong taking you into the heart of this wildlife-rich wetland is an unforgettable highlight, so too, your cruise through the billion-year-old sandstone terrain of spectacular Katherine Gorge. With its colonies of flying foxes chattering in the trees and majestic processions of camels walking along Cable Beach at sunset, Broome, on the wondrous Kimberley Coast, is certainly an intriguing town. Once known for its pearling industry, it is now a popular destination during tourist season when the number of residents grows by the thousands. Nearby Roebuck Bay is well known for its ‘Staircase to the Moon’, a rare natural optical illusion that sometimes occurs when the tide is receding.

Days 2 - 3

25 - 26 September 2023

Take a thrilling seaplane flight over stunning Buccaneer Archipelago and Cape Leveque

Embark on an extraordinary seaplane tour to witness the spectacular Buccaneer Archipelago, the Horizontal Waterfalls and Cape Leveque, which covers the mining islands of Koolan and Cockatoo. You’ll land at Australia’s oldest family-owned and operated pearl farm at Cygnet Bay for a delicious lunch and even time to relax by the sun-drenched pool. Enjoy a guided pearl farm tour, learning the history of pearling and the art of cultivating these sought-after jewels, before flying along the coast back to Broome, passing Willie Creek, Broome town, Roebuck Bay and Cable Beach.

The following day, during a day at leisure, uncover the history of this remarkable place with a visit to the Broome Historical Museum, which is filled with interesting exhibits, wander the stretch of the Broome Port Jetty for impressive views, or embark on a tour of Willie Creek Pearl Farm, where you can learn more about the history of the region’s celebrated pearling industry.

Today you’ll fly from Broome to Kununurra, a gateway town to the beehive-shaped Bungle Bungle Range and much more. Situated among rolling scenic hills, this charming town in the eastern Kimberley region is renowned for its stunning natural surroundings, which you will be able to discover during your stay here. Visit the Celebrity Tree Park, where, over the years, trees have been planted by several famous people who have either spent time in the town, or even filmed in the vicinity.

Days 5 - 6

Marvel at incredible views over the Purnululu National Park on a scenic flight and explore the charms of Kununurra

This award-winning scenic flight over World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park is an unforgettable adventure, taking in the Kimberley's most spectacular aerial views. Inside the air-conditioned, high-wing aeroplane, you can enjoy incredible birds-eye views in the height of comfort and safety. Your two-hour scenic flight over Purnululu National Park soars over the incredible Bungle Bungle Range, Lake Argyle, the stunning Carr Boyd and Osmand Ranges and much more. Back on ground level, enjoy a delightful afternoon tour discovering Kunumurra’s charming attractions, which will include the Mirima ‘Hidden Valley’ National Park, Kelly's Knob Lookout, Zebra Rock Gallery, as well as the local Hoochery Distillery.

The following day, you’ll drive through Durack countryside, making a short stop along the way at the historic Durack Homestead Museum, constructed as a replica of an original family homestead using the original stones. It’s then just a short distance to a scenic look-out, where you can admire panoramic views of the vast Lake Argyle. Crossing the Ord Top Dam wall, you’ll get a glimpse of the Ord Hydro-Power Station, before embarking on a scenic boat cruise on Lake Ord. Along the way, marvel at the spectacular scenery and flora and fauna, including elusive freshwater crocodiles! Enjoy afternoon tea at a riverside camp and then later, as you cruise back to Kununurra, a gorgeous East Kimberley sunset.

In this laid-back city, delve into the lively restaurant and music scene, or just relax on the beach watching the waves of the Indian Ocean lap the shore.

Day 8

Go crocodile hunting on the Adelaide River and explore Kakadu Park’s stunning natural wonders

Today you’ll enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Adelaide River where you may well encounter some local residents – such as a crocodile or two. You’ll then travel into Kakadu National Park, home to a breathtaking range of animals and colourful bird species. The combination of mangrove fringed coastal areas, expansive flood plains and open woodland make Kakadu one of the most stunningly diverse landscapes you’ll ever encounter. Enjoy lunch here before paying a visit to the Bowali Visitor Centre. Continue to Ubirr, a site known for its ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries. You’ll get a superb view over Kakadu from this area.

Discover ancient aboriginal rock art and Kakadu’s Yellow Water Billabong wetland

At the Nourlangie Rock art site, you’ll discover an amazing remote spot that has provided shelter to the local Aboriginal people for a millennia. Visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre for a fascinating insight into the local Bininj culture, then savour the dramatic scenery on a cruise that takes you into the Yellow Water Billabong, Kakadu’s most famous wetland. Here, saltwater crocodiles lurk, as well as an abundance of avian species. This afternoon, you’ll travel to Katherine, the third largest town in the Northern Territory, stopping off along the way at the idyllic setting of Leliyn, also known locally as Edith Falls.

Take a cruise deep into the heart of spectacular Katherine Gorge

A cruise through Katherine Gorge is like travelling back in time – this awe-inspiring network of thirteen gorges is carved from billion-year-old sandstone. Taking you into the heart of Katherine Gorge among freshwater crocodiles and incredible birdlife, you’ll witness some of the most amazing scenery that the Northern Territory has to offer. View the fascinating displays at the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre, where you may learn about the traditions of the Jawoyn people and pick-up a unique hand-crafted souvenir. Making your way back to Darwin, you’ll call in at the historic gold mining town of Pine Creek, as well as Adelaide River War Cemetery.
