Today, embark the Rocky Mountaineer for an incredible two-part ‘Rockies to the Red Rocks’ route. From Denver to the red rock formations of Moab, you’ll soak up extraordinary landscapes, winding past vast ancient canyons and rivers, through inspiring deserts, natural archways and mountain ranges, while indulged in SilverLeaf Cabin class. On this first day, take your seat at the oversized glass-dome windows to enjoy the spectacular views passing by. The route slowly gains elevation before reaching the Continental Divide, which you’ll cross while travelling through the historic Moffat Tunnel, an engineering marvel that cuts through 10-kilometres of mountainous terrain. You’ll re-embark the Rocky Mountaineer for another day of incredible scenery heading south-west and indulged in SilverLeaf Class. Look out for Mount Garfield. the highest point of the Book Cliffs and admire the stunning red sandstone cliffs of majestic Ruby Canyon, aptly named after the vibrant ruby-toned cliffs that line the canyon walls and only accessible by train or from the river. You’ll cross the Colorado-Utah border, marvelling at the stunning mountain views in the background.
